What Should We Name the Van? (These Were Our Family’s Best… and Worst Ideas)

  We knew buying a van would come with a lot of decisions—layout, build, budget, all the things you expect when you step into something like this. What we didn’t expect was how hard it would be to name it. At some point, it hit us… this thing needs a name. Not just something random, but something that actually fits what it is and what we’re going to do with it. So instead of overthinking it on our own, we went around the family and started asking for ideas. That’s when things got interesting. Zeke kicked things off with “Big Ben,” which honestly isn’t bad. It feels solid. But then he followed it up with “Big Sassy Sally,” and that’s where we started realizing this might not go the direction we expected. Luke had two completely different approaches. We Waited 2 Years for This Van… And It Was Worth It

  For two years, this was just an idea. A late-night scroll on Facebook Marketplace. A saved listing. A “maybe someday.” We looked at dozens of vans. Missed deals. Second-guessed decisions. Wondered if we were crazy for even trying to make this happen with a family of seven. But deep down, we knew what we were chasing wasn’t just a vehicle. We were chasing something bigger. The Search For nearly two years, I searched. Every chance I got. Facebook Marketplace became part of the routine. Auctions. Listings. Leads that went nowhere. Vans that were almost right—but not quite. At one point, I sold my dream vehicle—a 2005 Ford Excursion with a Cummins swap pushing around 700 horsepower—to help make this possible.  I sold it to Project Unify Disaster Relief which meant it was needed and going to help make an impact in others lives.
